from the silver screen

The above video is Harrison Ford revealing his all-time favorite movie. (Harrison Ford is an actor who played Indiana Jones. Indiana Jones was a guy who ... oh, nevermind.) Btw, the Mockingbird movie is much different than the book, so you'll still have to read. Sorry, suckers.

Movies are texts just like literature, and like lit, they can entertain us, move us, and shape our opinions and behavior. For April's extra credit, choose one movie that has impacted you in some way--perhaps it made you LOL, inspired you to think about life differently, changed the way you speak, made you cry for hours, whatever--and explain, specifically, why you would recommend it to others. This doesn't need to be your favorite film, but just one that stands out to you for some reason.

Have fun reading each others' posts (and updating your Netflix queue!). Post by midnight on 4/30 for extra credit.

  1. A movie that impacted me in some sort of way was Dirty Dancing. It has become my favorite movie because it makes me laugh but also has romance elements in it. One thing Dirty Dancing has taught me is to not judge people on their outward apperance and also not to make assumption. Babys dad judged Johnny when he actually ended up being the good guy in the movie. Also if baby were to have judged Johnny the whole movie of Dirty Dancing would have never been. I recommend people to watch this movie because it is a great classic that teaches life lessons.

  2. A movie that impacted me after I watched it was the Blinde Side. It not only was entertaining and humorous, but also had a good message to send to viewers. In the movie, there was boy in need. At that time, it wasn't really socially acceptable for rich people to take in people like that. Sandra Bullock overlooked what her friends and family might say to her for taking him in, and did what she thought was right. It taught me that no matter what people will think of you its always more important to help people out and do the right thing.

  3. One movie that I reallly enjoy is the Breakfast Club. I think it sends a good message about high school and about treating people equally, not judging, and about how cliques keep you from a lot of cool people. I think it really shows that cliques and such are not very good and that you should be nice and hang out with a variety of people because you never know whol you'll meet and what other people are going through and who is really in need of a friend. It's also funny and easy for high schoolers to relate to.

  4. One movie that really impacted me was, as cheesy as it may be, Marley and Me. It hit me personally because I have always had dogs in my life and they have always had deep impacts on me. The fact that Marley died wasn't what impacted me, but when it showed a big montage of his life is when I felt impacted. It showed what a person actually goes through when they lose a loved one. They try to remember all of the good times with the loved one, which makes it easy to relate to.

  5. I really enjoyed the movie Looper. It is about a guy who's job is to kill people who the government sends to him through time travel, criminals that have done something terribly wrong in the future so they can stop it from happening by killing these criminals in the past. Seems pretty lame until one day the person that gets sent back in time is himself.. It gets confusing because time travel is very confusing, but the ending is great and you wouldn't want to miss it. It makes you think about what really matters in life.

  6. A movie that has really impacted my life is the movie Mrs. Doubtfire. It is an extreemly hilarious movie starring Robin Williams. This movie about how a man and his wife get divorced, and the man (Robin Williams) does whatever he can, to be with his children, including dressing up as an elderly woman. This happens to be my favorite movie of all time because no matter how many times I watch it, I will laugh every time, no matter what. It teaches children that even though parents may not be together any more, it doesnt mean they love their child any less. Its a good movie for all ages because its extreemly hilarious as well as has a good message to children dealing with broken homes.

  7. I feel like a movie that has impacted me in life is "The Green Mile." (The movie has a main character who is charged with murder all based off of his appearance and being in the wrong spot at the wrong time....yet he didn't actually do it, instead he was a major caring person--) I feel like it really sent out the message to not judge people off their appearance and to learn more about a situation before jumping to conclusions which I feel are two major factors in life (judgment and assumption). So it was just interesting to see how each played out in the movie.
I would definitely recommend others to watch this movie because it shows that everyone has a story and it just takes time to learn it. Just as well as it had me in tears as it was just pulling at my heart as the truth unfolded within the film, which makes me want others to watch it because it showed that having an open heart can do so much for others.

  8. The movie that has impacted me most was the newly released God's Not Dead. In the movie, there are a lot of different story lines that inter-mix with each other. The main story is a college freshman in his philosophy class. On the first day, the teacher denounces God's existence and tells everyone to write on a piece of paper God Is Dead. As a Christian, the college freshman tells the teacher that he cannot write that down because of his beliefs. After bashing his beliefs, the teacher tells him that he must present the case for God's existence in front of the class. As the movie goes on, tensions start to rise between the teacher and the student. After class as the student is studying in the library for the coming day of debating, he comes across a student in his class who had been affected by his words. After asking why he believes in God and why he defends him, the freshman tells him this: "I think of Jesus as my friend and I don't want to disappoint Him. You see to me, He's not dead He's alive." This affected me in that I don't want to disappoint Jesus, I want to proclaim He's not dead. Another storyline was that of a old woman with dementia who is being taken care of by her children. One is a Christian, and one is an agnostic. At one point the brother, the agnostic, comes to see his mother. After asking her how she can live a Christian life without the pleasures he experiences, she says this: "Sin is like a jail cell except it's nice and comfy and there doesn't seem to be any need to leave. The door is wide open. Until one day it slams shut... Sometimes the Devil allows people to live a life free of trouble, cause he doesn't want them turning to God." This impacted me in that I know that statement is completely true and I want to live the way God wants me to live. At the end of the movie, (SPOILER ALERT!) the professor who argues with the freshman, (the freshman wins), he reads a letter from his mother, who died of cancer, which says that she hopes that God will turn him into the man that is true to His will. After trying to call his ex-girlfriend (the Christian girl who's mother has dementia) he remembers that she went to a Newsboys concert (a Christian band), and starts heading there. But on his way there, he is hit by a car. Fortunately for him, a pastor, who is seen throughout the movie was waiting in traffic and saw this happen. After assessing his wounds, the pastor deducts that the professor does not have long to live. He asks the professor if he has accepted Jesus as his Savior. The professor says no, and the pastor gives him a few scripture verses to melt his last defense against God. At that moment the professor accepts Jesus as his Savior and he dies. This movie might seem a little cheesy to some people, but that is what Christian movies are all about. That's what the Christian life is about. It's about happy endings and lives changed because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross to cleanse EVERYONE on earth of their sins. Not just the people 2,000 years ago, but all people who have ever lived on the earth. This is why we as Christians believe wholeheartedly in the Bible and Jesus. That's also the reason why this is my favorite movie and why it has affected me so much, because it speaks the Truth. If you have questions, please ask me or find your local pastor. I will be very happy to talk about it with anyone.

  9. One movie that has impacted me the most is Listen To Your Heart. This movie was about a girl and a boy that meet and fall in love (cliche, I know). The thing that is different about this movie is that the girl is deaf so the boy can barely communicate with her. Since he loves her so much he learns sign language. Later in the movie the boy finds out he has a brain tumor and has little time left. The movie shows their love grow and break over and over again just like any other love story. The thing that moved me was that he was so determined to learn her language so that they could be together. He did everything he could for her because he loved her. *SPOILER* At the end of the movie, the boy dies from his brain tumor and it really hit me hard. He loved her with all of his heart and that wasn't enough. He barely had any time with her and then he was gone. This movie really showed me to make the most of what I have and to live life to the fullest. That may sound cheesy but it's true. I should be thankful for who I have and what I have. Not everyone has as good as a life as I do and I need to appreciate it more. I recommend this movie to anyone who wants a good cry and a good lesson. It really shows how powerful love is.

  10. The movie that has impacted me the most is without a doubt the Twilight Saga. It has taught me many lessons. Lesson one: Vampires don't not like the sun, they just look extra pretty so it's really embarrassing. Lesson two Werewolves hate to wear shirts. I don't know whether it's because of all the expenses they'ed have to pay from the transforming and what not, but the more likely reason is that it just gets really hot with all the fur. The third and final lesson is that when acting it's good to have some change of expression when the mood of the film does. I'm not going to point any fingers, but a certain actor/actress made a good point of not doing anything to change her expression, besides wincing extra hard and grimacing. Twilight has been very helpful to my insights on all of these problems, which quite frankly I would never have known had they not arisen in the movies. I'm very grateful.

    1. Sometimes I think she is supposed to look like that... I mean, come on. First, she's in love with a vampire, who isn't really a vampire because he never sleeps in a coffin and he only drinks animal blood, but also there's some vampires who do drink human blood, and apparently there "vampires" have a government in the most religious country in the world, these guys can also have some weird power and do NOT turn into bats, what? Second, there's a "werewolf" that thinks he's in love with her but really he imprinted on a non existing embryo that will someday be in her stomach. These "werewolves" aren't born how they are, they only turn into them when there's a lot of "vampires" around, which in fairytale land there is no chance of that happening. Third, SHE WANTS TO HAVE SEX WITH A GUY WHO DOESN'T WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH HER. Lastly, once this guy actually does have sex with her he impossibly impregnates her with a mutant baby that's half human half vampire and APPARENTLY ages faster than a normal person which according to crazy teenage girls makes it TOTALLY ok for a 17 year old werewolf to fall in love with her. THEN HAPPY ENDING the "werewolves" and the "vampires" end a life long feud with each other to protect this mutant baby and fight the bad "vampires. If I were Bella/Kristen I'd be pretty wince-y and grimace-y.

  11. There re so many movies I would like to list off but you said to only pick one. The movie that impacted me the most was Waiting forever. It is differently a chick flick but it is really cute. It is about a boy that said he would wait for his dream girl to come back. While he is waiting for her he never grows up , mentally at least, and finally one day sees her. While trying to win her back she keeps shooting him down but he keeps trying. Of course being a chick flick in the end he finally got what he was waiting for. It impacted me ( hopeless cute romantic) because he waited and waited and never gave up on what he wanted. Even when he thought it was never going to happen he tried one more time and his dreams came true.

  12. Now I have around 38 favorite movies, but one that really stands out is Footloose. I like the new one as well, but you have to stick with the original. It's about this small country town that bans all forms of dancing, loud or vulgar music, and functions that aren't put on by the school or church. This happens after five of Bomonts brightest have been killed in a car crash after a party. Including the pastors son, and the pastor has a lot of influence on the people of Bomont. Years later, a new fella named Ren McCormick comes to town and wants to change things a bit. All of the adults are wary of him but he quickly makes friends, and one happens to be the pastors daughter who has a rebellious streak. So, eventually Ren changes the rules and him and Ariel fall madly in love blah blah blah, but it has more of an affect than that. It teaches you that you should never give up on your dreams no matter how impossible they seem. Ren wanted to have a dance, so he made it happen. Footloose also teaches you that your parents do what they do to protect you, not to hurt you. They just really love you and don't want you to get hurt. Sometimes they even realize they were wrong and move on. It also teaches you that first impressions are usually wrong, and you can't judge a person until you get to know them. Well you shouldn't judge at all but you know what I mean.Everyone thought Ren was a troublemaker just because he didn't grow up in Bomont, and they didn't even know him.I can seriously quote the whole movie and it never gets old. "There is a time to weep, there is a time to mourn, and there is a time to dance."

  13. One movie that has impacted me was frozen, specifically the music that is in it. When I first saw the movie I thought that it was pretty awesome! But then... when some one says let it go, or snowman people start belting the songs. Well this has impacted me so that I will never see the word let it go, or snowman ever the same with out having that song come up. But I would recommended this movie if you wouldn't sing the songs all the time. It has good characters and a great plot twist at the end. So watch it but don't sing all the songs out loud!

  14. A movie that impacted me in a way was Cast Away. It was about a guy who travelled around the world on a regular basis because he was the manager of the UPS company. One night he has to get on a plane last minute, so he says goodbye to his wife and promises he'll be home on Christmas. His plane ended up crashing in the ocean that night, and he was the only survivor. He washed up on some random isolated island and was stuck there for about four years. He finally built a raft, left the island, and got rescued by a ship, but by the time he got home his wife had married another guy and had a daughter. This movie taught me that when you get stuck on an island, you need to immediately build a raft and leave so that your significant other doesn't think your dead and have a kid with someone else. The serious lesson this movie taught me is you need to be patient and wait for the good things in life. His wife should've waited for him because that was a sad ending.

  15. I don't really know what movie to choose there is so many. I would have to say that Soul Surfer is a very inspiring movie to me. What I like the most about this movie is that Bethany Hamilton can do so much even with one arm. She demonstrates to be that it doesn't matter how different you are, that you can still make a difference in the lives of others. It shows me that I shouldn't take the little things for granted in life. Also that no matter what happens, that you can always find a way to overcome it and follow your dreams.

  16. Hmm... A movie that was not only inspiring, but was funny and just so amazing I could watch if over and over....and over again would have to be Remember the Titans. It shows me that no matter what, if you love the sport, or anything at that, you'll push through what was attempting to hold you back. For the blacks, it was segregation and the hate of blacks by white people. Remember the Titans also shows me the bond you form through the sport. Like the bond Campbell and Bertier formed during camp allowed me to see that it doesn't matter what's on the outside but what's on the inside. Also I can relate, I too formed friendships with my team mates through the sport we share. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend you watch it ASAP! You might not like football but I assure you, once you finish, you'll want to watch football for hours!

  17. One of the many movies that has made a huge impact on my life is The Boy In The Striped Pajamas. I think about this movie all the time because it taught me how to treat my friends and acquaintances. The one scene that really gets to me is when the little boy in the Concentration Camp has to go set the table and the other boy takes some food off of one of the plates. One of the guys in charge comes back in the room and notices that some food is gone. So the man in charge beats the little boy in the camp and that was basically the other little boy's epiphany because he felt so guilty. He basically made a promise to be that little boy's friend and treat him with respect.

  18. One movie that has impacted my life was Precious (no really that's the name). It's about an African-American teenager that is physically and verbally abused by her mother, and sexually abused by her father since she was a baby. Her reaction in turn is to be a total bitch to everyone she meets. It taught me to try to be nice to everyone I meet because you never know what is going on in someone's life, they might be completely bitchy and may come off as a bad person, but you never know what happens when they get home from school. The part that always gets to me is when Precious (the girl) has a flashback of when it all started and she was laying in bed with her mom and dad back when her mom was nice, and her SOB dad starts touching her and he tells the mom its ok. Oh yeah, that definitely puts my panties in a bunch.

  19. I watch a lot of movies, so I assumed this prompt would be super easy. I actually found that it was really hard to choose just one movie. However, I eventually decided that a movie that has impacted my life is Friday Night Lights. I really love this movie because it teaches a lot of good life lessons. It not only teaches that it's not always about winning, but also that it's okay to be different, it's okay to follow your dreams, and that high school sports are a really good way to make new friends and form really strong bonds with your teammates. I like this movie a lot, mostly because I'm a hardcore football fan, but it did teach me that there are some things more important than winning. Honestly, the first time that I saw the movie I was pissed that the Panthers didn't win the state championship, but after watching it at least a million more time, I realize that the team losing was exactly the point of the movie. There are things more important than winning.

  20. Out of all the movies I have watched, My Sister's Keeper brought out all of my emotions the most. The movie was funny at times, and was portrayed as a happy movie considering the circumstances... but at the end of the film, I cried so much. If you're not familiar with the movie I'll just say that it involves a family member that has cancer and her sister was born to basically donate whatever she needed to keep living. The movie puts you in the shoes of a family that might actually be going through the same type of thing and it really made me realize how grateful I should be for the things I have. This movie was touching because you got to se how close the sisters were bonded.. and sadly you were able to see the grieving when they lost someone that they love. Movies about illnesses like this really make it clear that we shouldn't take things for granted whether it be small things, or even big things like our health. That's why I liked this movie so much.

  21. It's difficult to pick just one movie that has impacted me, because there are so many. I think a movie that has really impacted me the most would have to be Cast Away. I saw that movie when I was very young. I was staying the night with my best friend at her grandparent's house, and for some reason I couldn't sleep. Her grandfather was watching TV, and that was on, and I ended up watching it.

The movie impacted me in a strange way. To begin with, I'm not sure I really completely understood the movie as a child, but it still made me really sad. There were two parts about that movie that really upset me as a child. The first was that towards the end of the movie, the main character gets rescued, but he loses the volleyball that was his only "friend." And for some reason, as a kid, that really upset me. The second part of this movie that really got to me, was the one package he didn't open. There was just one package at the end of the movie that he didn't open, and he actually ended up delivering it. As a kid, and even now, the curiosity of what was inside of that package drove me insane. I actually haven't seen this movie since the first time, but I still think about it a lot.

  22. One movie that was funny moved me was the movie Click. It was a very funny movie, but the last part of the movie teaches you a lesson to always put your family first because family is forever and a job isn't. 24. The one movie that just sticks out in my mind when I think of movies that have touched me or made me feel a connection would have to The Sandlot. Ever sense I first watched the movie, it stuck me. I love it because it nails how I play baseball all the way down to dog on the other side of the fence. The movie is a bunch of neighbor kids that meet up at a sandlot ever day to play baseball, they don't usually play to win, they play for the fun of the sport. Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez reminds me the most of myself when I play, and I can just relate to so much in the movie The Sandlot.

  25. Okay, its way to freaking hard to pick one. But I guess the most recent choice would have to be Gods Not Dead I watched it this last Saturday and wow it was good. Its about a freshman in college whos Physiology teacher wants him to say "God Is Dead" which is something he doesn't believe, so he challenges his teacher to decide whether god is dead or not. I loved this movie for many reasons. it showed to stand up for what you believe and even if everyone else doubts you, continue anyway. He showed courage for his religion against his own professor, and he stood up to his girl friend of six years because of what he believed. this movie is such a good mental builder because it makes you think anything is possible.

  26. A movie that really stands out to me is Secondhand Lions. It really made an impact on my perspective because it made me realize how much one person can do for another. In the movie, Walter, the main character, is sent to his Uncle's house and told wonderful stories about their adventures in a foreign land with mystical people and exciting opportunities. It showed me how much a little story can change the recipients dreams and wishes to turn them into something tangible. It also showed me that no matter how crazy, outgoing, and eccentric you are, there will always be someone who loves and looks up to you.

  27. One movie, although more of a documentary, that has really affected me is "Bully." It really surprised me how bad it is for some kids out in the world. After seeing life through their point of view, I don't know how they manage to get up and face the world each day. "Bully" really inspired me to be really careful about everything I say or do. You never know how your actions or words can really affect someone unless you are that person. We need to remember that we are all human beings, and we need to treat each other with respect and kindness. A similar movie to "Bully" that more people have probably seen is "Cyberbully" with Emily Osment. Just another example of how hurtful words can be, even if we don't realize it at the time.

  28. "The Pursuit of Happyness" is a movie that I find to be very inspiring. It's a true story based on a man who has a son and wife, and they're a very poor family. Through a series of events, the family loses their apartment, their car, the mother leaves, and the man has only around $20 in his bank account, because the government took the rest of his money. He knows that he has to take care of his son and be able to provide for him. While the man and his son continue to sleep in homeless shelters and subway station bathrooms, he stays devoted to his studying. At the end of the movie (spoiler alert!) the man becomes the only new broker to be chosen at a big stock exchange. This movie teaches a lesson of determination. It makes me realize that I can become whatever I want to be as long as I work hard enough. It's a very inspiring movie, because even though this man and his son went through so many trials at the beginning, they ended up having so much more after enduring the hard times.

  29. It is hard to choose just one movie that has had an impact on me. I would have to say my favorite movies are the Back to the Future Trilogy and it has impacted me but not necessarily because of the message of the movie. My dad showed me these movies when I was younger because they were his favorite movies when he was younger too. He has seen each one probably a hundred times. When I watched them, I thought it was cool how the plot worked and how Marty (the main character) changed things in the future from the past. That is something I think a lot of people would like to do (rewrite history or go back and change things they did wrong and make them better or right). I have always liked the movies ever since my dad showed me them. They are movies my dad and I have in common and we can share, that is what makes it impactful.

Every normal human being on this Earth has a favorite movie. If you don't have a favorite, or you despise movies, well then you're just odd and I don't know what to say about that. If you're a girl, chances are your favorite movie is a love story. Indeed, mine is as well! The movie Dear John isn't only the sweetest love story ever, but its realistic. It's not just all lovey and perfect between couple Savannah and John. There's struggles, arguments, pointless bickering, and the feeling of complete heartache when they're away from each other. All the things that happen on a daily basis to many other couples. The summer romance of the two is just the most cutest, sweetest thing ever. The movie speaks for itself and if you haven't watched it then you need to! You may want to have a box of tissues by your side as well. You know how romance movies can tug on the heart strings- I know it does for me! I'm sure my favorite movie will change time to time, but for now, this will be my all time fave!

  31. One movie that impacted my life was Zombieland. This was one of my favorite movies since in involves zombies and is very funny. It was the first movie that gave me guidelines in case there was a real zombie attack. It had the rules such as double-tap and wearing seatbelt. I can't even stress the importance of wearing seatbelts. And yes, I do believe in the chance that one day the world will be overrun by zombies. Anyways, it taught me to enjoy what I have and look at things on the positive side. It also taught me be very careful around a gun so I don't end up shooting someone like Columbus did.

  32. A movie that really impacted me was Lone Survivor. I only saw it a few months ago and it instantly became one of my favorite movies. It is about the true story of the worst disaster in Navy Seal recent history. Four navy seals are in the middle of a mission when an unexpected situation that questions their morality compromises the mission. Obviously the title, Lone Survivor, gives some away, but there is so much more to this movie. The action is scary, realistic, intense, gruesome, and heart-poundingly immersive. Watching it I felt like was in an Afghan forest surrounded by Taliban. I could feel the intensity and I cringed every time a soldier took a blow. Lone Survivor was very emotionally moving and maid me think about life. I give tremendous respect to our men and women in uniform. This isn't the typical, cheesy action movie. It is a true story about a real tragedy and real people. It is an intense movie and I recommend it to anyone whether they agree the the war or not.

This movie reminds me of how life is , even though ill never take care of a shark and be famous for broadcasting the best news , I will most likely see the difficulties . When everything and everyone sticks with the old fashion or they stick with the same old same old , don't be afraid to try something new. Yes, some people or millions of people will most likely disagree with you ,but its not the end of the world to be different. Also ,this movie made me realize that I am not alone alone for I have friends , like brick , who saw the positive things in life and had great sense of humor ha . These friends will be with you wherever you stand wether it you be on top of the world ,rich or blind and constantly say "must I say it again?! Im blind!". Though its just a hilarious movie to others, to me if you read or watch in between the lines you'll see that they are just a regular group, with great hair, like you and me and that when you venture on and begin something new youll always have someone that will stand and be dorks with you ; they might also fight other bbroadcasting groups with you so you can see your son at his play. -sierra salinas per.4

  34. I love the movie Forrest Gump. It is a classic movie with so many messages about life, love, and achieving your goals. I think this movie is great because growing up, Forrest is faced with many problems like his legs and he is also considered stupid. Throughout the movie, you see how successful yet challenging his life was. He overcame challenges and accomplished so many great things. It shows that no matter what people say or think about you, anything is possible if you set your mind to it.

  35. I have watched so many movies that have inspired me. A movie that has really inspired me is Heaven Is For Real. I recently watched it with my family. I can honestly say I cried a few times. This movie has shown me that you should put trust into your family, even if other doubt or question it. Recently I haven't been to church lately. This movie has shown me that God will always forgive you, as long as you feel sorry for your sins.

  36. I've seen so many movies it's hard to think of just one that I really enjoyed or that has made an impact on me. I'm not really a person to be moved by a movie rather than to just watch and enjoy it for entertainment. If I had to chose one specific movie though I would have to say How to Train Your Dragon. Yeah, it's kind of a kid movie, but it's a movie that I would watch anytime any day. Maybe it's because these huge feared dragons are really just like big misunderstood cats or dogs. Toothless for example is the "Night Fury," the most feared dragon, but when met by Hiccup is more like a cat, curious and likes fish. In this movie the loser becomes friends with the biggest and meanest and shows that it doesn't matter who or what you are but who you are on the inside and that some people no matter how weak or how strong can just be misunderstood and need someone else to understand them. Two characters, one the biggest, and one the smallest, are in the exact same situation, and form the strongest friendship. It's a great movie with a good message, and a sad yet happy ending that makes it hard to wait for the second one this summer. That is why if I had to choose one movie that stood out to me more than the rest I would have to say it would be How to Train Your Dragon.

  37. If I had to choose a movie that impacted me, I would have to go with The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I have only seen the Disney animated one sadly, but I feel like the message I got from it would be the same. I saw it, for the first time, when I was young and I didn’t understand much of it, though I liked it a lot. I saw it more recently and picked up on a life lesson. I would say it’s not the typical one that people tend to get about how not to judge people and that everyone has feelings. I picked up on those, but I decided to look at it more from Quasimodo’s perspective. I saw that no matter how much life beats you down and no matter how many people say no, you can always rise back up and find the beauty in life.

  38. I would have to say the movie that has impacted me the most would be Soul Surfer. I only saw it a few times, but it really inspired me to not give up on anything I've set my mind to. Bethany Hamilton was a inspiration. She didn't let anyone talk down to her, or give her special treatment just because she didn't have an arm. She didn't want to be treated any differently. And despite the missing arm, nothing in her life changed. She didnt let it affect her or her passion to surf. Even when she had all these people around her telling her she couldnt do it, she proved them wrong. That takes courage. And I really admire her for that. It shows me that these little things in life dont impact ur future. The way u handle it, does.

  39. This was really hard for me to choose just one so I chose The Pursuit of Happyness. It is a story about the struggle of a guy that doesn't have much, working hard to get out of his situation and to have a better life. I love that movie because it's inspiring, cute, and is realistic; the movie is actually based on a real story. Many people struggle to make it by because they can't afford it but this movie teaches you that if you work hard and never give up, you can achieve anything. The Pursuitone of Happyness is a great movie and I strongly recommend everybody to watch it.

  40. A movie that I really love and that has impacted my life is Mulan. It taught me that you don't have to follow the norms and bow to tradition. It taught me that hard work, and thinking outside the box are usually the better ways to go in life. That movie just inspired me to be my best, and to believe that anything can happen, absolutely anything. I would recommend it to people because not only is it funny, but it teaches some very moving morals. I'd also recommend it because it's just awesome in general. For whatever reason, this animated film touched my life, and I'm very glad it did.

  41. Actually, I'm kind of a heartless person when it comes to movies sometimes, I just find a lot of them really predictable. But every once in awhile there comes a movie that really gets to me, and in this case....Wreck-It-Ralph. When I went to this movie, it was Honestly just me going for my cousins. They really wanted to hang out and see a movie with me so, what the heck. But by the end, I was pretty messed up. Sheesh! I'm not a crier, but I could feel em comin'. I don't know exactly what it was....just how these two characters from two different worlds were outcasts, yet they believed with all their heart that they could proved to the World they were worth taking a second look at. This little girl through the whole movie just wanted to be accepted, and even in her theft was just wanting to be given a chance. She even built her own little cart and everything, using her resources to try to be even looked at again, rather than be cast aside like the rest of her life... And on the other side, this big baddie is shunned because he's supposed to be villain in this game. Thinking "Oh he doesn't have feelings, he doesn't need friends, he's the BAD guy." Yet, by the end, he ended up having one of the biggest hearts of them all. Maybe it's that he had to work to get where he wanted to be, yet no matter what the hero did he would still be looked at as this big shining idol. Even at the very beginning, Ralph tries to go up and join the party, and everyone is basically being...um....how do I put this....some kind of -ist? Villain-ist? I don't even know, but they don't even TRY to look at his situation, or where he came from, or.....just how lonely he really is. Anyways, throughout the movie it just really spoke to me how these two pieces of society were both thrown out, but their determination to be better was so great that they turned out to break the bonds of what was socially acceptable and change everyone's perspective on the roles of Good and Evil. And the sparkle Vanellope had when she got that new car with Ralph, it was the most pathetic looking car ever, yet she was still the happiest little girl in the entire universe. It really spoke to me. Also her pure innocence is hiding behind all that sarcasm and pain, but her true heart comes out when she gives Ralph that homemade medal. It really was worth a thousand of those stupid "Gold Hero Medals." But at the end, what really got me was what Ralph realized through his entire Journey..."Because if that little kid likes me, how bad can I be?" and he finally understands that "There's no one I'd rather be but me."
Maybe it's because I was very lonely as a kid....or that I felt like an outcast a lot....and maybe that's why I've done everything I possibly can to get where I am now? There's no way I was going to stay being lonely, I wasn't going to accept being like that for the rest of my life. I have so much potential to do so much more. I don't think this really changed my life, but it really was a Reality check for me, and it hit me that I've done so much and gone so much farther than anyone ever thought I would accomplish. So yeah I have a lot of obstacles and problems and little stupid things that want to make me suffer in my life....but so did these Characters? They never gave up, or accepted that they were never going to amount to anything. So........why should I?

Thank you, I really enjoyed this topic :) and thank you for listening

  42. A movie that moved me a lot is Perks to being a Wallflower. It's about a boy that comes into high school a little socially awkward where he can't make any friends. Later he finds a group of people that like to be with him just because he is who he is. It's very moving to see what troubles he ends up going through, but then he still fights through it all and overcomes all of his unfortunate problems and situations.

  43. I didn't realize how much i personally connected to the movie Spirited Away until just this year, but it taught me the lesson to keep going no matter what. The main character is a young girl who is moving to a new school. She spends the entire exposition complaining about it. When she finds herself transported alone to a strange world full of spirits, she's forced to learn to work hard and stick up for herself and others, even if they would't do the same for her. The movie is heartwarming because you see her transform into a new person throughout it. I love watching this movie because its a good reminder to never give up.

  44. 21 Jump Street is a life changing movie. It's about two rookie cops going undercover posing as high schoolers to bust up a drug ring. This movie taught me not to do any drugs or the police( a.k.a. The Fuzz) will put me behind bars. Plus,I don't think I can last there. It's lonely and I really don't want to become anyone else's property.

  45. For me, Aladdin is a movie that changed my view on life. Not only is it one of my all time favorite movies, but it sends the message that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover because even though he is a "filthy street rat" he is a great person and has hope for a better future. Aladdin is a homeless boy who is caring and looks out for others. Eventually he meets this girl and he becomes rich and is in love. Moral of the story stay a good person, and everything will work itself out in the end. Also good things will come your way even, if you are in a very low place; stay positive.

  46. I've got to say this was kind of a tough choice but a movie I enjoy watching is Fast Girls where two completely different type of people collide, both very talented girls but one's from the rich side (country club and that sort of thing), while the other young lady is from well,..the hood. They're both super amazing runners and both take a spot on the national team that's when the much awaited girl drama starts and then they throw the Hot Physio into the mix, along with the stress of being a professional athlete, trying to fulfill your dream while someone's waiting for you to fail, they figure out a way of working together (after ripping there eyes out on national television).
One of the many morals I learned was that aside from following my dreams I'm going to have to learn to deal with people I don't necessarily like or that don't like me. But before I make my mind up about them because of their background I should at least give them the benefit of the doubt and only time will tell if I made a wise choice.

Its a story about a girl whos husband died and before he died he planned out letters that she would find in a scavenger hunt. That movie made me cry for hours! its so sweet and romantic it made me realize that people can leave you at any second but still be with you in a weird way. And how thatt losing someone can affect others in a huge way.
